We Are Creating A New Genre.
We believe the old way of doing things is broken. Scientists are in the labs, talking only to each other. Media outlets grab random quotes without context. And meanwhile, the girlies are Googling, reel scrolling and Reddit searching all of our athletic girl problems.
Athlete Girl is here to invent a new position in the industry.
We are looking for the way-makers who understand that modern communication happens on social media, but people are currently starving for the long-form depth and truth of a peer-reviewed journal (hello Substack revolution).
We see the massive social change happening in the women's physical activity and sports world right now, and we’re responding to what the community actually cares about. We are building a team that social listens:
No Old School Thinking
If your approach is "this is how it's always been done", this isn't the place for you.
The Blend is Key
We need the analytical brain of an evidence-based clinician mixed with the trend-spotting eye of a fashion editor.
Impact Over Ego
We are change-makers. We are here to close the gender health gap, not just get clicks.
We are currently curating a roster of disruptors and freelance contributors who fit this new genre.
1) The Sci-Comm Disruptors
You have the credentials (PhD, MD), but you know how to tell a story. You know that science won't make an impact if it stays in a PDF or a busy infographic made for researchers only. You are ready to translate complex data into lifestyle content that feels relevant, urgent, and cool. You understand that “social media" is the vehicle, not the enemy.
2) The Cultural Curators
You live at the intersection of Sport, Style, and Social Change. You understand that movement is a culture. You can spot the difference between a trend that serves us and a trend that harms us. You are ready to blend lifestyle reporting with evidence-based reality.
3) The Community Listeners
Social Strategists & Advocates. You know that the audience is smarter than traditional media gives them credit for. You are here to listen to the "group chat," identify the gaps in women's sports health support, and help us build the content that fills them.
We are a women-led team building the infrastructure for the next generation of digital sports media. If you feel like you’ve been waiting for a job description that didn’t exist yet or have a new position idea you’d like to pitch to us entirely—you just found it.
